Tour De France chefs share 'recovery smoothie' that can lower blood pressure

This is what some of the Tour de France riders have - and it sounds amazing

The Tour de France 2026 is underway, and the people behind the scenes have shared an easy smoothie recipe that's consumed by the riders themselves.

The chefs at Team EF Coaching have been sharing the riders' dinners, desserts and drinks to keep them at peak performance, whether their goal is to assist their teammates, win a stage, or win the Tour as a whole. Chef Chris Woodward and Head Performance Chef, Owen Blandy, take to Instagram daily to share what the riders are eating and drinking.

Calling it a "Chefs Special: Supergreen Recovery Smoothie", the coaching team wrote in their caption: "After a hot day of racing, theres nothing better than a refreshing smoothie to cool your core, rehydrate, and replenish what youve lost.

"Packed with vitamins, minerals, and healthy carbs, its the perfect post-race recovery drink.

"Plus, carbs are often easier to digest in liquid form, especially when your gut has been pushed to its limits. No wonder its the riders favourite post-race smoothie."

The ingredients for the smoothie contain:

This smoothie could reduce blood pressure

Healthline notes that its ingredients could lower blood pressure. It explains: "A diet rich in fruits and vegetables reduces the risk of high blood pressure and heart disease.

"More specifically, a low-sodium diet and an adequate potassium intake can positively influence your blood pressure regulation. Honeydew melon is a low-sodium and potassium-rich fruit, so it may help you maintain healthy blood pressure levels.

"If you want to increase your potassium intake, try adding honeydew to your diet. Its a good source of potassium, with a 1-cup (170-gram) serving providing about 8% of the RDI."

Lemon and lime

The health experts at Wed MD hail the use lemon and lime, noting that the "these tangy citrus treats provide you with the same vitamins and minerals as other citrus fruits. The best part: They do it with less sugar."

Not only that, but the "vitamin C, which is also known as ascorbic acid" can fight ageing too.

It explains: "Your body cant create it, so you have to get it from food. It helps make collagen, which keeps your skin springy and full.

"Without enough, itll start to wrinkle. Sure, thats also a natural part of ageing, but you can slow it down with the right vitamins and nutrition.
