Artwork by creative studio 3D Joe and Max surprised commuters in the capital.

Dinosaur descends on Canary Wharf

Montgomery Square appeared to crumble away into the Dinosaur Age this morning, as commuters travelling through London's Canary Wharf were forced to do a double take. An eye-catching Jurassic spectacle was created by the award-winning artist and Guinness World Record holder 3D Joe and Max.


Spanning 1,200 square feet, the artwork took three weeks to complete and was painted in acrylic on canvas by the world-renowned artist. The display also features striking 3D elements, including a black cab and red phone box, both appearing to have been brutally sliced in half as they fall into the vivid prehistoric landscape below.

The artwork brings to life a scene from Warner Bros. Pictures' new film The End of Oak Street, which arrives in UK cinemas this Friday.

Starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor, the film sees a cosmic event tear a family-friendly suburban street from 1980s suburbia and transport it back to the prehistoric age.

Artist Joe Hill said: As a 3D artist and huge dinosaur enthusiast, this brief couldn't have been more exciting.


The End of Oak Street is a thrilling and hugely inventive edge-of-your-seat experience and we've tried to reflect that in this immense immersive art display. It's been great incorporating the 3D elements and seeing people pose within the artwork today has been a joy to behold.

The installation is on display in Montgomery Square, opposite Canary Wharf station, throughout Monday and Tuesday, giving visitors the chance to step directly into the world of the film.

Movie fans and passers-by can pick up props and costume pieces inspired by the films 1980s setting before posing within the giant artwork for photographs. Visitors can also enjoy a free slice of pizza, a nod to Greg, the character played by Ewan McGregor, who works as a pizza delivery driver in the film.

The End of Oak Street follows the Platt family after a mysterious cosmic event rips their neighbourhood from suburbia and transports it to a strange prehistoric world.

Forced to confront roaming dinosaurs and unfamiliar dangers, the family must work together to survive in surroundings unlike anything they have ever known.

To bring the film's premise to life in the heart of London, Warner Bros. Pictures enlisted globally renowned creative studio 3D Joe and Max to create the immersive installation.

The studio is famous for their spectacular anamorphic artworks, producing large-scale creations everywhere from New York to Shanghai, and are widely regarded as pioneers of modern 3D street art. They also previously set Guinness World Records for both the world's largest and longest anamorphic artwork.

The free experience is open from 12pm until 7pm, with complimentary pizza available until stocks last.
