'I love dating a man who is 28 years older it's game-changer in the bedroom'

Melanie Quinn, 31, had vowed never to date someone older than her again after her relationship with a man double her age had ended but then she met Shanks Putwain, 59, and everything changed

A couple with a 28 year age gap has defended their relationship against keyboard warriors by insisting their connection and bedroom habits defy their generational differences.

After her last age gap relationship came to an end, Melanie Quinn from Bedfordshire, swore off dating older men for good. But then she crossed paths with Shanks Putwain, who is 28 years her senior, which quickly had her change her mind.

The couple, aged 31 and 59, connected on Hinge and, after chatting for a month, decided to meet in person. Instantly, sparks were flying.

But Melanie couldn't shake off certain worries, such as how they looked together in public and the idea of losing him long before her time is up due to their age difference.

However, after two years of being together, those concerns have become a thing of the past. It seems the respect they share is like no other even in the bedroom.

Discussing a surprising benefit of their age gap, Melanie said: "Him being old means he takes his time and isn't rushed or freaked out. I've never really liked that sort of thing. And [goes in with] no expectations.

"Both of us don't really have a super high sex drive anyway, so it's great. I've never been respected like this."

Their bond extends beyond the bedroom Melanie and Shanks, both musicians, began to let their romance blossom following their first date.

Melanie shared that after he suggested they cuddle, she felt butterflies. Later, during their second date at his home, things turned even more physical.

"I think we both knew, then and there, that this was a lasting soul connection," Melanie shared.

Despite their loving relationship, Melanie worries that she might change her mind about having children in the years to come.

She wonders whether it would be unfair for any prospective kid to have an elderly father. However, for now, she's focusing on her role as stepmother to his 14-year-old son, who remains indifferent to their relationship.

"I get on well with his son," Melanie said. "He's at that age where everything is 'whatever' so I don't think he cares. He just wants his dad to be happy."

While you might expect the pair to face criticism regarding their age difference, they've received numerous supportive responses from friends and relatives.

The harshest comments have come from strangers online, with some accusing Shanks of 'grooming' Melanie. This allegation Melanie continues to strongly disagree with given they're both consenting adults.

"We got together when I was 29, so that isn't the case," she said. "And he's the most relaxed person, no matter what. When people meet us, they get it, though."

The duo, who have never rowed, do relish their personal space, even while separated. They're currently setting aside money to buy a property with separate bedrooms.

And, they also have a wedding to organise. Melanie revealed: "He proposed eight months in... to show his commitment".

Despite this, Melanie stated that she still favours keeping her relationship more private, following her previous age-gap relationship, which she described as 'concerning'.

"But you can have loving ones, like ours," she added. "We're perfectly aligned."
