Ivy Socit, one of Australia's biggest escort directories, is opening up its doors by offering sex workers a chance to network at an upscale gala.

The Ivy Socit Gala, described as "an event like no other", will be heading to Melbourne on February 4, 2024.

The event has been designed for sex workers and content creators to connect and celebrate the industry. Blaire Hunter, Founder of Ivy Socit, said: Working in the adult industry can be quite isolating. Since many of us are self-employed, we don't have the same chances to form friendships as those who, for instance, work in traditional office settings.

While social media has helped connect us, I envisioned an event that would facilitate in-person interactions, fostering lasting friendships and connections.

Clients are not permitted at the Ivy Socit Gala, which was deliberate choice to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for sex workers.

The Gala is designed to create a space where sex workers can focus on building friendships and networking within their own community, with support that goes beyond your typical networking event.

From the outset, I aimed to ensure this event was an inclusive event of all sex workers," added Blaire. "That's precisely why we provide sponsored tickets to those who may not have the financial resources to participate.

"Approximately 20% of past tickets were sponsored by Ivy Socit, our sponsors, and members of the community."

In the past, this has meant Ivy and community members have covered event tickets, travel and accommodation expenses for attendees facing financial constraints.

"This Gala is a lifeline for sex workers like me, an attendee from Sydney said. It's a safe haven where we can make new friends and just celebrate with each other. We don't get many opportunities to do this."

Another attendee added: "I was fortunate to receive a sponsored ticket to the event, and I am so thankful to those who donated. I wouldn't have been able to attend the event otherwise. The Gala allowed me to create friendships I'll cherish forever."
