James Bond producers have compiled a shortlist of 5-7 names who will audition to become the next 007 in August.

It's five years since Daniel Craig hung up his Walther PPK and several high profile actors are being considered to succeed him. Familar faces Callum Turner, Jacob Elordi and Harris Dickinson have all been linked to the iconic part, and now producers have revealed a fresh round of screen tests will take place to find their ideal spy this summer.

Dune director Denis Villeneuve is helming what will be the 26th official Bond adventure and apparently he's been "calling talent directly".

Recently hitched Callum Turner remains firm fave to replace Daniel Craig

A source told Deadline: "They expect producers to cast a wide net, the exact number of actors is unknown with some sources saying between 5-7, while others said in the teens."

New casting director Nina Gold, who joined the project in April, has also been meeting with hopefuls over a number a of weeks: "those meetings were for lesser known names to see if anyone should be added to the list of prominent actors expected to get a call for the next round."

No names have yet been confirmed but Dua Lipa's new husband Callum Turner remains firm favourite with bookies William Hill at even odds.

George Clooney also threw his support behind Turner saying: "I think he would be a great Bond."

Turner has been keeping a low profile calling the Bond rumours amusing.
