Herbal rapper Snoop Dogg confirmed a biopic based on his life will arrive cinemas "next year".
Rising star Jonathan Daviss, best known for Netflix drama series Outer Banks, will play the Drop It Like It's Hot star in a movie titled simply Snoop due summer of 2027. The Californian hip hop legend hopes his movie will be as successful as the NWA biopic that came out in 2015 and. commented: "After my brothers told their story in Straight Out of Compton, it's my turn."
But he warned filmgoers: "You know my movie going to be rated-R, you better believe that."
Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind) will produce the film and Craig Brewer (Hustle &Flow) will direct to the delight of Snoop who was impressed by the director's recent Neil Diamond movie Song Sung Blue.
He said: "[Brewer] just showed us how hard it is out here for a pimp from Hustle & Flow. And then last year, he got us all singing Sweet Caroline."
Snoop unveiled the his movie plans at CinemaCon in Las Vegas where he also performed snippets of his classic songs for the audience at the annual gathering.
The biggest names in Hollywood showing off new movies at CinemaCon 2026 for cinema owners and Snoop has been causing mild panic at the event.
He quipped: "I got a trailer on the lot right next to [Steven] Spielberg. They called the fire department on me two times already, but it wasnt fire. Smoke, baby."
Snoop is busier than ever having recently released his Ten Til Midnight Album, a new 14-track studio collection tied to a short film of the same name.
Also in the works is a Missionary Album - a collaboration album fully produced by Dr. Dre, serving as a follow-up to his debut Doggystyle. Plus there's his Altar Call gospel album via Death Row Records.
Snoop is teaming up with pals Eminem, Dr. Dre, and 50 Cent for a massive 2026 world tour, touted as a major hip-hop reunion.
And US fans have enjoyed him on The Voice returning as a coach for the 28th season of NBC's hit telly show plus various sporting commentary gigs.
