Scottish chart toppers Texas are set to serenade France football great Thierry Henry later this year.
The Say What You Want hitmakers have been announced as the headline act for Legends of Football 2026, the charity gala supporting Nordoff and Robbins, the UKs largest music therapy charity.
The event will take place on October 5 at the JW Marriott Grosvenor in London, celebrating the incredible contributions of football greats Thierry Henry and Karen Carney.
Texas singer Sharleen Spiteri is a huge fan of Arsenal and was a season ticket holder at the club after moving to London, with her support being heavily influenced by former Scots player Charlie Nicholas.
Spiteri is also close friends with Thierry Henry, who is the godfather to her daughter, Misty Kyd. Henry also starred in the Texas music video for the song Let's Work It Out so this is their way of repaying him.
Spiteri said: Im happy to be part of Legends of Football 2026, where were going to play and celebrate my friends Thierry Henry and Kaz Carney. I hope everybody is ready to party.Texas rose to prominence in the late 1980s as one of Scotlands most successful and enduring bands, fronted by the distinctive voice of Sharleen Spiteri.
Formed in Glasgow in 1986, the group broke through with their debut single I Dont Want a Lover and the album Southside, before achieving global success with their 1997 multi-platinum album White on Blonde, which produced iconic hits including Say What You Want, Halo, and Black Eyed Boy.
Over the course of a career spanning more than three decades, Texas have released ten studio albums, scored 13 UK Top 10 singles and three UK No.1 albums, and sold more than 40 million records worldwide.
In 2024, lead singer Sharleen Spiteri was honoured as a Chevalier of Frances Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in recognition of her contribution to music and the arts. In the same year, Texas also received the Outstanding Achievement Award at the O2 Silver Clef Awards.
Legends of Football has raised over 9 million for Nordoff and Robbins over the past 25 years. The charity uses music therapy to support people affected by life-limiting illness, disability, or social isolation, helping them to express themselves and connect with others through music.
This years event will honour two football greats. Karen Carney, a stalwart of womens football both domestically and internationally, earned a remarkable 144 caps for England - the third-highest total in the nations history.
Thierry Henry is widely considered one of the greatest players ever to grace the Premier League, scoring 175 league goals and winning multiple titles with both Arsenal and France.
Texas will perform a short set at the star studded event on October 5 at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House. Visit lofootball.co.uk for tickets.
