Thirty years ago, Britain was experiencing something not seen since the 1960s and we're celebrating it with this special edition on sale now.

Britpop was the term coined to describe a resurgence of interest in British guitar bands in particular and British culture in general that had started in the early 1990s and peaked around 1996 when Oasis, Blur, Pulp, Suede, Elastica and Supergrass were the biggest acts around and the public couldnt get enough of them and their antics.

Those bands, and a host of others, werent just the darlings of the music press. They were all over the tabloid newspapers and lads magazines, and the subject of in-depth pieces in the serious newspapers and upmarket magazines.

For a few years in the mid-90s, Britpop was everywhere.

To celebrate that golden era of British music, our Britpop special takes an in-depth look at the musical careers of the main acts and the songs that propelled them to the top of the charts.

We look at the big characters and the most memorable moments, the rows and the rivalries that made the Britpop era so memorable, as well as the classic albums that still sound great today.

We also look at Britpops lasting legacy and what the main players are up to these days.
