In February Jack Whitehall returned to host the BRIT Awards for a sixth time, and over the years he has encountered his fair share of divas. However, he's revealed that Stormzy's staff was by far the most over-protective team and he was warned not to poke fun of the rapper under any circumstances.
Jack, 37, recalled: "So much of it [diva behaviour] is not coming from the artist themselves. I had some jokes in the monologue about Stormzy and him doing that McDonalds advert, and they were like, If you do any jokes about Stormzy he will walk out of the room, he will not sit there and be abused by you.
"And I was like, I am not abusing him I was just gonna call him McStormzy and make some really lame jokes about him being Deliveroo-ed here tonight or whatever. And they were like, No you cant do them."
The presenter stood his ground and luckily Stormzy, 32, was able to laugh at himself, he continued: "I was like, I am going to do them as I am sure he has a thick enough skin to be able to take it and obviously he does and didnt care.
"I did the jokes and he laughed and he didn't walk out the room because he was never going to walk out of the room!"
Jack, who has just married Roxy Horner, revealed that the badgering is so "incessant" that he now refuses to let anyone see his script until they are live on TV.
Speaking on Hanging Out With Ant and Dec, the comedian admitted: "I do a fake script in the rehearsal now.
"I had to hide in the toilet the first year because Id done all of these jokes and all of these publicists, A&R people, ITV lawyers were banging on the door like, You cant do this, you cant do that.
"So the second year I did a fake script in the rehearsal and it was all glowing praise."
