A teenager has denied the murder of a 12-year-old lad who was hit by a car in Essex, with his trial set to take place later this year.
Cops were summoned to Ashwells Road in Pilgrims Hatch at 5.40pm on June 7 following reports of a vehicle colliding with a youngster. Bobby Bloomfield suffered severe injuries and later passed away in hospital.
A 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named due to legal restrictions, stood in the dock at Basildon Crown Court on Monday, accused of Bobby's murder. The young defendant responded "not guilty, your honour" when asked for his plea to the murder charge.
A 43-year-old man, William Lunnon, is also facing a murder charge.
The adult defendant, from Ashwells Road in Pilgrims Hatch, appeared via video-link at Monday's hearing, which was attended by relatives of the deceased.
He was not asked to enter a plea.
Both defendants, currently in custody, are scheduled to stand trial at Basildon Crown Court from November 9, with the proceedings expected to last up to six weeks.
Judge Samantha Cohen stated that a High Court judge would preside over the trial.
Prosecutors informed an earlier hearing at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court that the deceased and his mates had been on private land when Lunnon approached them and asked them to leave.
It's alleged that the lads scarpered but were subsequently pursued by the two defendants in a car, driven by the teenager.
In a statement issued via Essex Police, Bobby's family expressed: "Losing a child is every parent's nightmare.
"We are living that nightmare and no words can ever explain how we are feeling.
"Bobby brought light and life into all our lives and we have lost that forever."
