Police and fire crews swarmed the car park of a Costa Coffee in Bradford, West Yorkshire, after customers reportedly heard a "huge explosion".
According to local reports, the loud noise was heard in two areas of the city, Bolton Woods and Frizinghall, at around 10am this morning (March 29).
The branch is located on Stanley Road, which is off the usually busy Canal Road heading towards the city centre. Multiple police, fire and ambulance crews were seen in the car park.
Fire crews in particular seemed to be focusing their attention on a parked car that had been described as being badly damaged.
The sides of the vehicle were also damaged with smashed glass scattered around the vehicle. According to witnesses, occupants were reportedly in the car at the time and were seen in "shock".
Fire crews were seen lifting the bonnet of the car to check the engine, as well as opening the boot.
Speaking to local newspaper The Telegraph and Argus, one witness inside the Costa spoke of hearing a load bang. They said: "I was sat having my morning coffee when I heard this huge explosion.
"I presumed it was a crash, but when I looked there was nothing obvious until a fire engine parked up in the Costa car park and the crew began inspecting a car.
"It looked like the occupants were alright thankfully but seemed in shock and were checked over by the ambulance team."
West Yorkshire Police also attended the scene, with a police van and two cars. Officers were seen inside the Costa Coffee branch during their investigation of the incident.
The fire crew left at 10.50am but police and ambulance crews remained at the scene. All emergency services eventually left the scene as the damaged car was left still parked up in a bay.
It is currently unknown if the occupants of the vehicle left with paramedics.
