Donald Trump sends tribute to 'Maga all the way' Hulk Hogan and message for icon's wife

Donald Trump has paid tribute to wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, calling him a "great friend" and saying he was "Maga all the way."

Hogan who tore off his top to reveal a Trump/Vance shirt underneath as he endorsed the Orange Manbaby at the Republican National Convention had praised the President on numerous occasions.

Trump posted on Truth Social: "We lost a great friend today, the Hulkster. Hulk Hogan was MAGA all the way Strong, tough, smart, but with the biggest heart. He gave an absolutely electric speech at the Republican National Convention, that was one of the highlights of the entire week.

"He entertained fans from all over the World, and the cultural impact he had was massive. To his wife, Sky, and family, we give our warmest best wishes and love. Hulk Hogan will be greatly missed!"

Wrestling megastar Hogan, real name Terry Bollea, endorsed Trump in 2016 and 2020 and even floated the idea of being Trump's vice-presidential nominee. He once tweeted: Thank God for President Trump, brother. He put America first.

Last year, he took to the stage at the Republican National Convention, where he once again endorsed Trump, days after he had survived an assassination attempt.

After he tore off his t-shirt as he famously did before matches during his career Hogan told the crowd: "After everything that's happened to our country over the past four years, and everything that happened last weekend, I can no longer stay silent.

"I'm here tonight because I want the world to know that Donald Trump is a real American hero, and I'm proud to support my hero as the next president of this United States."

He was also photographed backstage at Trump rallies and remained a frequent guest on right-wing podcasts, sharing grievances about cancel culture, the decline of masculinity, and the real America he believed in.

While his embrace of Trump alienated some fans, it solidified Hogans role as among many in the MAGA movement. In his last televised WWE appearance, Hogan was roundly booed by fans in LA just months after he'd publicly backed Trump.

It comes after the president's son Donald Trump Jr shared a selfie with Hogan taken at the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In a short X post, he said: "R.I.P to a legend".

Vice President JD Vance also tweeted his condolences, posting: "Hulk Hogan was a great American icon. One of the first people I ever truly admired as a kid. Rest in peace."

Six-time WWE champion Hogan's death was confirmed on Thursday night. US media reports medics were called to his house in Florida after he went into cardiac arrest.
