A UK airport is now seeing flights delayed or cancelled after an aircraft crash landed on the runway. Land's End Airport in St Just, Cornwall, is reportedly closed while it deals with an emergency after light aircraft had crashed after landing at 11.55am today (July 9).
Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed it received a report that a plane, believed to have been travelling from Devon, had crashed with two occupants on board.
The fire services was also called to the scene to help assist with police confirming thankfully no one was injured during the horror incident. The Air Accident Investigation Branch has been informed of the incident.
The airport is reportedly currently closed while they deal with the incident as flights appear either cancelled or delayed. Land's End Airport it is primarily used for SkyBus flights to and from the Isles of Scilly, reports CornwallLive.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "At 11.55am today, 9 July, police received a report that a light aircraft had crashed after landing at Lands End Airport, St Just. The plane, believed to have been travelling from Devon, had two occupants on board.
"No serious injuries are reported at this time. The fire service is in attendance. The incident remains ongoing. The Air Accident Investigation Branch has been informed."
Videos show the plane now being towed away from the runway following the incident.
The Passengers Relation Team for the airport confirmed that the incident involved a private plane.
A Passenger Relations Team spokesperson for Land's End Airport said: "There was an aircraft crash at the runway at Land's End. It was a private plane, not a SkyBus plane.
"I believe the airport is now closed and we do not have any information as to when that is looking at re-opening."
