Britain set for hottest day of the year as thousands rush to beach to soak up 32C temps

Thousands of Brits will crack out the budgie smugglers with the UK set to roast on the hottest day of the year on Friday (July 19) with temperatures as high as 32C

'FLAMING FRIDAY' will see Britain sizzle in 32C highs and the biggest beach rush of the year.


The scorcher will hit on the first day of the school holidays for millions.


Roads to the coast are set to be gridlocked as the UK enjoys temperatures hotter than Malibu.

Brighton alone will see a 70,000-strong stampede as sun-deprived Brits descend on the seaside town.


A tropical night, where temperatures do not fall below 20C overnight, is likely this evening (FRIDAY) into tomorrow.

A Met Office forecaster said: Places in the South-East are likely to reach over 30C on Friday, with sunny spells and very warm or hot conditions in the sunshine away from the North-West.


The UK Health Security Agency issued multiple health alerts for several parts of the country lasting until 11pm tomorrow (SATURDAY).

It warned the elderly and those with young children to take extra precautions in London, the South East and East of England.

Bookies slashed the odds of the UK being as hot as the Maldives.


Ladbrokes is offering 1-5 that the mercury will soar past 30C.

Jessica OReilly, of the betting firm, said: Sunseekers have waited a while for a blast of heat and it looks like an absolute scorcher is on the cards this weekend.

But the sweltering spell will be short-lived as temperatures dip back down after Sunday.

Forecasters warned Brits not to hold their breath for a heatwave.

The Met Office added: Temperatures need to hit or exceed a particular value for three consecutive days for it to be considered a heatwave.


Although a few locations may reach their criteria for three days in a row this week, for most of us its going to be one or two days of warmth before the cooler air arrives.

The Weather Outlook forecaster Brian Gaze added: 32C is shown on computer forecast models for Friday.

But its a brief blast of summer heat, with cooler conditions following.

Thundery downpours follow tomorrow (SATURDAY) with 21C in the Midlands and North.
