All of Donald Trump's signs of 'disrespect' at Pope Francis funeral - including quick exit

Pope Francis' funeral was held in St Peter's Square, Vatican City, today. However, Trump - as always - sought to get the limelight on himself with a string of 'disrespectful' acts

Live: Mourners and world leaders gather for Pope Francis' funeral in Rome

Pope Francis was laid to rest today after he sadly passed away on Easter Monday, with the funeral taking place in Vatican City.

World leaders all flew into Rome in order to pay their respects to the late pontiff, who died from a stroke and heart complications at age 88.

However, not all leaders and political figures in attendance have gone down in the good books with the millions of viewers who tuned in for the event.

Donald Trump has been caught in several moments of 'disgrace', after originally causing outrage by insinuating the only reason he attended is for his Catholic voters.

Here, we take a look at the moments of 'disrespect' performed by the orange manbaby - from wearing a blue suit, chewing gum and jetting off before the 'Pope was in the ground'.

Trump first shocked the world by turning up to the funeral in a blue suit. While the majority of other world leaders and prominent figures donned black outfits, he chose to wear a bright navy colour.

With his particularly glowing complexion, Trump stood out like a sore thumb while seated in St Peter's Square.

On social media, one person questioned: "Any reason why Donald Trump is in a blue suit and not wearing traditional black for a funeral?"

Another wrote: "I see that Trumps wearing a blue suit to the Popes funeral so that he stands out."

Though, Trump was not alone in his attire. Prince William also donned a navy suit. And there could be an explanation to their choice.

Standing on carpet

You're not supposed to stand there, Donald

Catholic mourners pointed out that Trump made a "disrespectful blunder" during the service in attempt to pay respect to the late Pope Francis.

However, both Donald and Melania managed to balls it up. Instead of following suit like other attendees, who approached the coffin for a moment of reflection and prayer, the couple took it a little too far - quite literally.

While others, such as Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Prince William, remained a distance from the rug underneath the coffin, the Trumps stood on it.

One social media user said: "Trump and Melania - the only two stepping over the rug where Pope Francis coffin sits when paying respect, jeeeezzz!"

Another added: "OK, so I'm not the only person who noticed Trump and Melania stepping on the rug. I'm sure they were given instructions to stay off the rug. But, nooooo!"

According to The Art Newspaper, attendees should not step on the carpet beneath the coffin as it symbolises 'holy ground' reserved for the pontiff.

On phone

Once the funeral commenced, Trump didn't stop with his 'disrespect'. He was caught on his phone during the hours long ceremony.

He leant forward, looked down and was visibly typing before he looked up and stopped using the device.

One viewer said: "Trumps blue suit and phone scrolling at the Popes funeral scream disrespect. A narcissist craving attention, not mourning. Vile."

Someone else simply blasted: "Disrespect!" While someone else joked: "Probably just playing Tetris."

Though, it is to be noted that several other politicians were seen to be using the mobile devices during the funeral. A number of dignitaries couldn't resist the chance to snap photos of the Pope's coffin as it passed them.

Chewing gum

If that wasn't already enough, Trump was later caught chewing gum on camera as he sat in the front row.

Not even trying to hide what he was doing, the US president unsealed a packet of gum before whacking it in his gob.

He proceeded to chew and lean forward while the Pope's service continued. On social media, someone commented: "Total disgrace. Self-invite. Blue suit. Hating the pope and now attending his funeral."

Quick exit

To put the nail in the coffin, so to speak, Trump didn't stay around for too long once the funeral had finished.

As we are typing this, Trump is already on Air Force Once, presumably back to Washington as he says he's very 'busy'.

He's so busy that he didn't have time to buy wife Melania any presents for her birthday, which happens to be today.

Trump didn't even want to wait around to take the First Lady for a slap up pasta meal and a glass of vino. Instead, they'll be having a lap tray birthday dinner on the Boeing flight back home.
