A WOMAN who lost her nose after auto immune disease started destroying her face whipped off her prosthetic honker live on air - with no warning.

Presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford were stunned after Jayne Hardman revealed the hole in her face where her nose used to be on This Morning.

The fake appendage attaches to her face with magnets and looks so realistic viewers couldnt believe it.

Jayne, 48, said that her nose started to collapse after she had an accident with her dog in 2012. It bashed its head on her face leading to swelling and bleeding.

But instead of healing normally the mother-of-twos nose started to cave in. Eventually she was diagnosed with Wegener's disease - a rare condition that causes blood vessels to become inflamed.

Jayne said: This is actually a nose that I take on and off, it's on magnets. I have sneezed it off once so I do tend to hold my nose now before I sneeze.

She also revealed that she wears a plaster across the hole, saying: Id hate for any spiders and stuff to climb down there. In the morning, I brush my teeth and I rinse my nose.

Jayne, from Redditch, Worcestershire, said that initially both her sense of smell and taste were lost but thanks to surgeons at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, they have returned.

She added: I cried when I could taste tea, toast and jam again. I didn't like the idea that if we ever had grandchildren I wouldn't be able to smell them after they had their bath."

Viewers were equally taken aback.

One wrote on Twitter: I think that stick on nose looks so cool! So realistic. #ThisMorning #ThisTimeNextYear

Another posted: S*** me. Wasnt expecting her to just take her nose off.

Jayne even has a summer nose for when she has a tan, she said.

She loves her prosthesis so much that she now claims to prefer it to her original nose, which was "quite large" and lead to her being called "Concord" at school.
