Farting in front of partners is a bigger milestone than bonking for first time

EXCLUSIVE: Couples are no longer fussed about waiting to get down and dirty with each other, but partners are now feeling more comfortable when they fart together

Farting in front of a new partner is thought of as a bigger milestone than when to first have sex. With Valentines Day on the horizon next week, it would appear theres more than love in the air.

The Daily Star Sunday can reveal that passing wind was ranked by couples as a the third biggest milestone in a relationship. It came ahead of meeting the parents in fourth place and having sex which was fifth on the list.

The findings also revealed three months was thought of as an adequate amount of time to be able to guff in front of each other. But 17% said they had felt comfortable enough to let one go with 24 hours of meeting, according to dating app Wisp.

Relationship Coach Ally Iseman, said couples different beliefs when it comes to flatulence could all be down to their upbringing. She said: We all have different associations with certain bodily functions.

Some were raised in a household where farts were never acknowledged, while others experienced families who would halt an entire conversation to start cracking jokes. Neither is inherently right or wrong, its about understanding your comfort level, being able to communicate it with each other, and having grace for the fact that our bodies are weird and wonderful things that sometimes make funny noises.

But if an accidental wisp does sneak out before youre ready, your dates reaction says more about them than you. She also believes that couples who are more open to popping off in front of each other could have better sex lives.

She said: Only couples can determine the right boundaries for their relationship. Its less about the hardline and more about being gracious when something natural and sometimes uncontrollable happens.

In the throes of passion, it can make for less inhibitions in bed. Wisp has donated the softer term wisping to the nations daters to encourage couples to break wind and break down barriers in their relationship.

Previously, it was revealed that nearly three-quarters of us (74%) have admitted to refraining from farting in front of our other halves despite the consequences. Some people agreed with the statement, with one social media user saying they had "been holding in farts from her partner for over a decade".

Resident dating expert at Wisp, Sylvia Linzalone, revealed that the idea behind the research was to help foster more honest conversations in relationships. She said: There are a lot of crude terms for a fart, so we are softening the term for a trump and offering wisp up as the phrase couples can get comfortable with and start normalising the act.

As the data shows, for daters serious about love, it is well worth getting that first wisp out. Couples who get the deed out the back door early tend to have stronger and more secure relationships.
