Fully-grown woman gets lifetime flying ban for vaping on flight as passenger grasses her up

The fine was reportedly handed out after the passenger vaped in the aircraft toilet and in her seat, despite vaping on planes being illegal under international aviation regulations

Woman banned from airlines for life after being caught VAPING on plane

A woman has been slapped with a lifetime flying ban from domestic airlines after being caught vaping aboard an aircraft.

The 37-year-old was also hit with a hefty fine of approximately 1,860 for using the e-cigarette. Flight crew reported that the passenger had been vaping both in the aircraft lavatory and while seated.

Smoke detection systems are thought to have assisted in identifying the smoking violation. Cabin crew seized the prohibited device during the two-hour domestic journey from Sochi to St Petersburg in Russia. Police then arrested the woman, a Russian citizen, when the aircraft touched down in St Petersburg.

An Interior Ministry spokesman confirmed she was subject to administrative proceedings under Article 6.24 of the Code of Administrative Offences for breaching regulations concerning tobacco and similar products in enclosed areas.

Consequently, she received a permanent ban from travelling with domestic carriers, according to NeedToKnow.

The offender was also struck with a massive 1,860 fine.

Using e-cigarettes on aircraft remains prohibited under international aviation rules and is regarded as a serious breach in numerous countries.

The probe into the complete circumstances is ongoing.

No injuries or flight diversions were recorded.

Meanwhile, a United Airlines flight was compelled to execute an emergency landing after an "unruly passenger" reportedly attempted to storm the cockpit.

United UA2005, which had departed from Chicago, was midway through its journey to Minneapolis on Friday evening (May 29) when it was rerouted to Dane County Regional Airport in Madison, Wisconsin.

The emergency landing was triggered by a disruptive individual onboard, as per airline officials. Several passengers took to social media to claim that the passenger was ranting in Russian and a mid-flight scuffle ensued.

Some travellers also alleged that the person tried to storm the cockpit. It is currently unknown if the man is indeed a Russian citizen.

Pilots of a United Airlines flight declared a Level 4 passenger threat just 20 minutes after takeoff. According to multiple reports, the alert saw a message to be sent to all other flights currently in the air, warning them of the situation.

A Level 4 incident is known as Breach of the Cockpit and instigates hijack protocols. According to reports, off-duty law enforcement were on board and helped intervene in the situation.
