Its the summer of soaring temperatures and sabbaticals. New research has revealed that 65% of Brits are considering a career break to pursue the perfect job, with 53% prepared to quit full-time roles in pursuit of shorter term positions or side hustles.
In fact, 58% would happily forgo a pay rise for the chance to spend four weeks doing their dream summer job, according to the survey by Madr Excepcional.
A backdrop of rising living costs (51%) economic uncertainty (32%) and soaring temperatures (21%) are prompting many people to think about what they really want from their working lives.
According to Brits, the ultimate job should come with sought after perks including flexible working hours (51%), all-expenses-paid travel (42%), work from anywhere (41%) and free food and drink (35%).
One lucky persons dream is set to become reality this year with the launch of Britain's first ever professional Sab-beer-tical as Madr Excepcional co-founder Carlos Garcia - otherwise known as the Madri Man - takes a summer break.
Carlos, aka the inspiration behind the iconic Chulapo featured on every bottle, is taking a well-earned summer break and is looking for a stand-in.
One successful applicant will enjoy the ultimate Sab-beer-tical, with a prize package worth over 5,000 including an all-expenses trip to Madrid, a years supply of Madr Excepcional and Madr Excepcional 0.0% plus the chance to complete a WSET Level 1 in beer qualification and professional pouring training.
Carlos said: Summer has a way of inspiring us to try something a little different, and that includes me as Ive decided to invite someone to step into my shoes, so to speak - someone with a genuine love of Madr Excepcional, for the ultimate sab-beer-tical.
Its no surprise that so many Brits are considering a break from the day-to-day to pursue something theyd genuinely enjoy.
As someone who was born in Madrid, and has spent the past 15 years brewing beer close by, it was important to me that the character featured on every bottle wears the traditional Chulapo dress - reflecting the culture and character of the city that inspired our beer.
Now, were giving one lucky fan the chance to embrace that spirit and make the role their own."
Unlike most job applications, no CV is required. Instead, applicants need to prove why they're the brands biggest fan - whether thats dressing as Carlos or transforming their home into the ultimate Madr space.
Entries can be submitted by sending recorded content to @madriexcepcional on Instagram, using the hashtag #MadriMan from August 10 and 23. The winner will be selected on September 15. T&Cs apply.
