Posh department chain John Lewis has seen sales of sex toys more than double in a year. The upmarket store is flogging the "Ferrari of sex toys" - Coco de Mer's 145 Pleasure No.6 Intimate Wand vibrator in its line of devices.

The retailer which has a royal warrant to supply goods to the King previously said the line of sex toys was introduced after a sharp rise in customer searches on the website.

It now offers as many sex-related items as electric toothbrushes or hair straighteners. And randy customers can't seem to get enough as sales continue to grow year on year.

The high end store started selling the adult pleasure devices in 2024 and declared sexual wellbeing is no longer a "taboo" subject. But some customers were stunned last week to see them advertised in its in-house magazine.

In the latest edition of John Lewis's free Foundation magazine, a picture of two sleek sex toys and a personal moisturiser features under the headline "Prioritise Pleasure".

The Coco De Mer No 2 dual vibrator which costs 185 and the the Sona 2 Travel vibrator at 99 feature in the magazine alongside the Lelo moisturiser, which sells at 18 a pop.

Londoner Stella Haig told The Sun: "I was shocked. At first, I thought it was a kitchen gadget; the last thing I thought it could be was a vibrator."

Another shopper told the paper: "You think you know what you are getting at the John Lewis caf with your tea and cake. In the magazine, this is not it!"

A John Lewis spokesman told The Sun: "Our sexual wellness range sales have more than doubled over the past year... and makes the perfect sensual gift or personal treat."

The store, known for its generous returns policy, states: "Sexual wellness products can only be returned if unopened, unused and have the original cellophane wrapping intact."

Coco De Mer No 2 dual vibrator is described on its website as being "designed for maximum female pleasure", while the Coco de Mer Pleasure No.3 The G-Spot Vibrator promises to "take the guesswork out of pleasure" as "this G-Spot vibrator gets it right every time".

Also available on its website is the Lelo Lily 3 sex toy, described as a a mini massager with 10 pleasure settings that vary in intensity.
