King Charles III has stuck the boot into despot Vladimir Putin after slamming the Russian invasion of Ukraine a year on from the start of the war.

The King of England did not hold back as he slammed the Russian forces, which entered Ukrainian territory one year ago today on February 24, 2022.

His poignant statement warned of the "full-scale attack" and praised the "remarkable courage" Ukraine have shown in the wake of "human tragedy".

The King of England and wife Camilla Parker Bowles have been deeply involved in meeting with Ukrainian officials, as the King marked a moving speech on the Ukraine war.

He wrote: "It has now been a year that the people of Ukraine have suffered unimaginably from an unprovoked full-scale attack on their nation.

"They have shown truly remarkable courage and resilience in the face of such human tragedy.

"The world has watched in horror at all the unnecessary suffering inflicted upon Ukrainians, many of whom I have had the great pleasure of meeting here in the UK and, indeed, across the world, from Romania to Canada."

The King had previously met with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky earlier this month, which he mentioned in his recent statement.

The statement read: "Earlier this month I met President Zelenskyy at Buckingham Palace to express my personal support for the people of Ukraine.

"It is heartening that the United Kingdom, along with its allies, is doing everything possible to help at this most difficult time.

"Therefore, I can only hope the outpouring of solidarity from across the globe may bring not only practical aid, but also strength from the knowledge that, together, we stand united."

Prince and Princess of Wales William and Kate also showcased their support, quote-tweeting the King's statement on Twitter and sending out a Ukrainian flag emoji.
