Child killers at one of the country's most infamous women's prisons will be treated to a 'cosy' Christmas packed with opera lessons and festive film screenings, according to an inside source. Lucy Letby, Constance Marten and Beinash Batool, some of Britain's notorious child killers, are all behind bars at HMP Bronzefield in Surrey.
Despite their horror crimes, they could receive festive perks and entertainment. This could included charity-funded presents and singing workshops. As part of their 'comfortable Christmas,' they will reportedly also indulge in mince pies and chocolate.
It comes after Lucy Letby was reported to be under 'round the clock' protection after being taunted by fellow inmates. The 35-year-old is serving a whole-life sentence for murdering seven babies whilst working as a nurse, and attempting to kill eight more. She is locked up in the prison's enhanced Unit 4, The Mirror reports.
All the prisoners at the notorious jail, including child killers Marten, 38, and Batool, 31, will supposedly enjoy a comfortable December.
A prison source, according to The Sun, said: "If people think prison is about punishment, that does not look the case at Bronzefield over Christmas.
"Most people, especially victims' families, would be outraged at what is being laid on. It is a private jail and is cushy by prison standards all year round. But it is even easier for them at Christmas."
Amongst the reported festive activities the inmates will have to anticipate are complimentary Christmas cards to send home, through the 'Jailbirds' scheme, linked to charity Barnardo's.
The charity PACT will also bring gifts, worth up to 20, for prisoners to send to their families. Activities including quizzes, film screenings and opera lessons are scheduled to take place throughout December at HMP Bronzefield.
Prison chaplains are also expected to distribute chocolates to every wing of the facility.
Inmates are reportedly set to enjoy a festive Christmas Day, complete with a traditional meal featuring turkey, chicken and traditional sides. On top of that, they will enjoy a selection of yule log, ice cream or pudding for dessert.
Letby and Batool, who was jailed following the horrific killing of her 10-year-old stepdaughter Sara Sharif, are reported to have developed a bond whilst incarcerated. Sources suggest the duo have struck up a friendship behind bars.
An insider previously told the Mirror that the pair spend a lot of time together, chatting and playing cards. Their relationship began after Batool was placed on remand in the same secure wing where Letby is housed for her own safety.
The source explained: "Beinash and Lucy live on the same wing with all the other lifers. They hang out on the landing together most days, playing cards and chatting.
"The child killers always stick together because they want to protect themselves, so it doesn't surprise me in the least that they get along so well."
