Supermarket customers received a sporting shock this week when former England keeper Ben Foster headed to the aisles for a penalty shootout. Ben, who featured for Manchester United, Watford, and Birmingham City, was accompanied by Barnsley striker David McGoldrick and Oldham defender Will Sutton for the kickabout.
The trio delivered football madness to the entire shop, from stepping in at the till to keepy-uppies in the cereal aisle. Some young customers stepped forward to take penalties against Ben himself. The occasion at Tesco signals this year's launch of Kellogg's Football Camps, which will occur at 73 venues across the country this summer in partnership with the EFL, Manchester City FC, Celtic FC and Rangers FC.
Ben, who enjoyed a two-decade career, said: "Taking something as everyday as the weekly shop and turning it into some football fun for families has been brilliant. I remember going to the supermarket with my parents when I was younger, and wishing I was out playing instead, so it's great to show shoppers that they can stock up their cupboards and keep their kids active at the same time.
"Kellogg's Football Camps gives kids the chance to learn new skills and make friends - all while giving parents a helping hand over the busy summer holidays." Now in their third year, the camps are crafted to help keep children fit, active and entertained during the lengthy summer holidays.
Sessions are run by FA-qualified coaches and there are 39,000 free places available to girls and boys aged five to 15. According to fresh research, 50% of parents feel anxious at the prospect of the summer "juggle" while discovering affordable activities (40%) and managing work alongside childcare (34%) feature amongst the most significant hurdles.
Positively, 45% of parents revealed that helping children make friendships and boosting mental wellbeing are primary motivations for getting youngsters involved in sport - along with cutting down screen time (47%).
Dean O'Brien, UK general manager at Kellogg's, commented: "We know the summer holidays can be a real juggle for families, so we're proud to bring Kellogg's Football Camps back for a third year in a row.
"With over 39,000 free places available, it's never been easier to get involved. Parents can simply pick up a pack of Kellogg's cereal during their weekly shop and turn it into a summer of football for their kids."
For a complimentary place, parents can register by purchasing a promotional Kellogg's cereal box and scanning the on-pack QR code or visiting www.kelloggsfc.com
