An urgent appeal has been launched to find homes for six cute critters who have been in the dog house for a combined 15 years.
Loveable half-dozen Mia, Zeus, Yoko, Sarah, Jaxon and Spud have together done a decade and a half in RSPCA kennels - without the sniff of new owners after tough starts in life. Heartbreakingly, Dutch Shepherd Mia has served a whole-life term so far, spending her four years and four months in the charitys care.
The excitable, but affectionate pooch, who was rescued with her mum and siblings as a nine-day-old pup, is based at Southridge Animal Centre, Herts, and is looking for a quiet home without kids where she would be the only pet. Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross Zeus, who has spent 15 months at the RSPCAs Leeds and Wakefield branch, West Yorks, may look like a tough guy but he feels intimidated by other dogs.

But he loves people, and could be suited to a home with older children. He is seeking a forever family who can help rehabilitate him in areas away from busy dog locations.
Terrier Yoko has been in Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home, Glos, since 2021, biding his time for a long two years and 11 months. The five-year-old tearaway is happy meeting other hounds on walks but has a strong hunting instinct and needs an owner who can keep him out of rabbit holes.
Sarah, a three-year-old Lurcher, can be a bit timid but comes out of her shell after getting over her shyness. She was rescued as part of a cruelty case in 2021 and has spent two years and 11 months at Block Fen Animal Centre, Cambs.
German Shepheard cross Jaxons self-esteem has taken a knock and the three-year-old, who has spent 22 months at RSPCA Millbrook, Surrey - more than half his life - needs a peaceful home where he can build his confidence.
Labrador Spud, aged seven, has been waiting for a home for two years and three months after coming into the charitys care in 2021.
The Romanian rescue dog finds it difficult meeting new people and other mutts, but staff at RSPCA Little Valley in Devon have found food is the way to his heart.
Spud is looking for a countryside, adult-only home with plenty of space where he can enjoy the quiet life.
RSPCA dog welfare expert Esme Wheeler said: Sadly, some of our dogs have had traumatic starts to life and may need more time with our training, behaviour and rehabilitation teams.
Others are looking for specific homes and can struggle to find a family who can give them everything they need.
However, we never give up on them and while it can take months and even sometimes years, we do our very best to find them their perfect match.
