A couple threw a massive Star Wars and sci-fi wedding with Stormtroopers, lightsabers - and even an actor from Return Of The Jedi.

Zoe Rule, 29 and Mithyis Kirby Rule, 29, are giant sci-fi nerds and tied the knot on May 4th - a day celebrated globally as Star Wars Day.

The pair said their vows in front of nearly 100 guests, all encouraged to design and wear their own sci-fi costumes at The Woods at Oakley, in Salisbury, Wiltshire.

They even had a secret guest attend who was a real-life Stormtrooper - Danny DArcy was an actor in Return of the Jedi.

Zoes father, who helped build many of the costumers over three years, dressed as bounty hunter Boba Fett, her sister, Laura, came as Padm Amidala, and her brother as The Mandalorian.

Other guests dressed as their favourite sci or fantasy character including from Mary Poppins and How To Train Your Dragon.

Mithyiss best man, Kennie, even came wearing an epic Halo costume, which made him nearly seven feet tall.

Mithyis and Zoe had light sabre wedding rings - one as Obi-Wans and the other Darth Vaders.

Zoe, who works as a registered veterinary nurse, said it was the best day ever.

Zoe and Mithyis, who have been together for 10 years, initially bonded over their fond childhood memories when they were introduced to Star Wars and sci fi - Mithyis by his grandfather, and Zoe by her dad.

They both had the conversation about a possible sci fi and character-costume themed wedding five years ago - but they did not think their dream would become a reality.

Zoe said: We were both on very much exactly the same wave length - non-traditional and character-costumes all around.

We are far from traditional people and we wanted everyone to be comfortable and bring their personalities through on the day.

I had already had my wedding outfit planned far in advance!

Zoe said: I really wanted the wedding in a forest - its very Endor-esque.

At first the couple wanted to throw the wedding in October - to make it easier for people to find and source their costumes due to Halloween.

But it was Zoes sister, Laura, who suggested the special Star Wars Day - May 4th.

Zoe said: When I told my sister about our plans she said, you two are both giant nerds - you should have your wedding on 4 May!

Our minds were blown and then we got creative!

Zoe explained how the couple were not short of sci fi-themed ideas - from using lightsabers from their collection for their walk of honour to specially designed Star Wars rings and cutting their cake with a darksaber.

Zoes dad, John Chapman, played a special role in the wedding too - as he brought the mythical to life by bringing his home-made daleks, making life-size battle druids and constructing a Darth Vader outfit for Zoes brother-in-law.

Zoe said: Back in 1996, my dad was involved in building daleks for Children In Need.

That same year, little me was able to meet one of my heroes: Tom Baker, who signed one of the daleks.

Those daleks mean the world to me and were such a catalyst for the wedding planning.

I really needed that for my wedding and when my dad found out it was on 4 May he was so excited and made himself a Boba Fett costume!

Ive hands down got the best dad.

John spent three years making Star wars come to life for the wedding: including building Mandalorian outfits for Zoes nephews, a life-size model of K-2SO - which barely fit in their living room due to its size - and druids with even had a sensor which would produce druid noises and vocals.

Zoes auntie also helped by making Zoe her own personalised costume: Astrid, from How To Train Your Dragon.

Zoe said: Me and Mithyis dressed as Astrid and Hiccup from the third movie of How To Train Your Dragon - its the first film we watched together and it brought us together initially.

Even when my dress was half-done I was crying because of how good it looked.

Talent and creativity must run through the family!

When the special day finally arrived, the married couple said they were blown away by the effort from their fellow guests.

Zoe said: Mithyiss best man, Kennie, wore his intricate spartan costume from Halo - which made him tower over everyone.

It made everything feel so real and wonderful.

I just love the fact everybody put so much time and effort into making it what we wanted.

Mithyiss cousin even came as Ursula from The Little Mermaid - and painted herself purple!

People even had multiple costumes because they couldnt decide which one to wear.

The happy couple, who spent their honeymoon at Legoland, said their special day was perfect.

Zoe added: A lot of people go to weddings and they dont really remember the cake, what the bride was wearing, what they wore and so on.

But I think ours has been more memorable - you couldnt forget what the bride and groom wore and there was so much more to the celebration.

I am glad its made us happy but also our friends and family - and strangers on the internet

It was such a special day. It was perfect - and we couldnt thank everyone enough.
