TV's The Traitors triggers surprising tourism boom in UK beauty spot

Two-thirds of travellers say major movies, streaming services and TV shows have influenced their travel choices, up 16% from last year - with multiple destinations seemingly benefitting from it

TV show The Traitors has triggered a tourism boom in Scotland.

And its not the only series to inspire viewers to venture to somewhere new.

Dubai is also on the up due to The Real Housewives Of Dubai, while Montana and Wyoming have seen tourist numbers go up thanks to Kevin Costners hit Yellowstone. Travel firm Expedia Group said the trend, dubbed set-jetting, has continued since they identified it in 2022.

Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbos Unpack report said fans of Claudia Winklemans The Traitors were keen to check out the stunning locations around the Highlands.

The series is filmed at Ardross Castle near Inverness and sees 22 strangers plunged into in a game of deception. An Expedia spokesman said: We identified travellers were turning to TV and film for trip inspiration in our Unpack report two years ago.

The Traitors hasnt just left us glued to the screen, its also inspiring us to visit the beautiful landscapes of Scotland.

In other travel news, stag do firms have hit back at Prague's plans to rebrand the city's reputation by bringing an end to organised late-night bar crawls.

Simon Old, Prague Specialist for UK-based organisers StagWeb and GoHen, told The Daily Star: Stopping organised pub crawls from 10pm wont deter partiers from heading to Prague at all. Its clearly an attempt to placate the locals whilst continuing to profit from the vast numbers of stag and hens arriving each year.

People will simply do them earlier in the day, which could cause a whole new set of problems, or just do them themselves. Theyre definitely trying to have their cake and eat it with this toothless policy.
