The married father-of-three who drove through crowds at the Liverpool FC victory parade is a former business owner whose social media profiles show an interest in cryptocurrency. Paul Doyle, 54, lived in a detached property on a cul-de-sac in Croxteth, Liverpool, alongside his wife and children.

In court, dressed in a black suit with slicked-back hair and glasses today (November 26), he was witnessed weeping and breaking down as he dramatically changed his pleas to guilty on the second day of his Liverpool Crown Court trial.

A photograph shared in 2017 on his now-removed Facebook profile, which operated under the name Jean-Paul Boyle, depicted the family standing beside a Donald Duck mascot at what seems to be a Disneyland attraction.

Allegedly a former Royal Marine, Companies House records connect Doyle to two enterprises RunCool Limited, where he served as director, established in 2016 and wound up in 2019, and FarOut Caps, an online hat retailer he founded in 2017 which folded in 2020.

A Facebook page for FarOut Caps, which seems to have been removed following Doyle's charges, marketed it as an "exclusive online designer brand of headwear worn by Vin Diesel", with its profile image seemingly displaying a Madame Tussaud's wax figure of the American film star sporting a cap emblazoned with "FarOut".

An X account linked to Doyle tracked 25 profiles, including controversial influencer Andrew Tate, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, and the world's wealthiest man Elon Musk. Numerous posts on the account, bearing the handle FarOutCaps, were connected to promoting cryptocurrency company SafeMoon.

In May, just days prior to the Liverpool parade incident, SafeMoon chief executive Braden Karony was found guilty in a US federal court of conspiracy to commit securities fraud, wire fraud and money laundering.

The X account appears to have been last active in November 2024 when it responded to a photograph of Elon Musk with a thumbs up emoji. Doyle also seems to be associated with social media accounts sharing memes and videos relating to the game Fortnite.

According to a profile on professional networking site LinkedIn, he worked in various cyber security roles and volunteered as an "ethical hacker".

In court today, Recorder of Liverpool Andrew Menary KC told Doyle it was inevitable he would be facing a custodial sentence of some length following his change of pleas.

He admitted driving his car into throngs of supporters during Liverpool FC's Premier League title celebrations in the heart of Liverpool city centre.

Over 100 pedestrians, aged from six months to 77, were injured after being hit by a Ford Galaxy on Water Street just after 6pm on 26 May this year, with 50 individuals needing hospital care.

A sentencing date was set for December 15 at the same court.
