A woman was left in tears after she mistakenly thought she had hit the jackpot with a winning lottery ticket, only to realise she made a "cringe-worthy" blunder. Aishwarya was casually browsing Facebook when she stumbled upon a post about the 72million lottery draw for which she had purchased a ticket.

The Aussie lass believed the post instructed her to check her ticket for 1414 a number she was convinced was hers. In a social media frenzy as @aishranaway, she exclaimed: "Guys, so I was just scrolling past Facebook. My heart's f**king racing.

"I was just scrolling past Facebook to see and the power ball popped up because I was in Adelaide and I bought a ticket just cause I was like feeling lucky. And the number says draw 1414 and that's the number that f**king won. I think I just f**king won the lottery."

The Aussie woman was over the moon, thinking she had scooped the massive 72million prize and began dreaming of ways to spend her newfound fortune. However, her excitement turned to disappointment when she realised the number was merely the identifier for the draw, not the winning digits, meaning she hadn't won a penny.

Taking to TikTok to share her embarrassing gaffe, she continued: "This is just the number, it's just the number of f**king what draw it is. It's not the actual winning number.

"These are the winning numbers. Like, I'm so f**king dumb. The one-for-one, draw number 14 14, is just the number of the draw. Next week will be 1415."

The lady was in stitches as she revealed her big plans after thinking she'd won big, saying she was "going to donate something to charity, buy a house and travel". She nearly quit her job before realising the win wasn't quite what she thought thankfully, she went for a double-take first.

Her misfortune has tickled TikTok as one user quipped: "We've all been there honey girl." Another chimed in with: "It's a humbling experience." A third couldn't contain themselves: "BAHAHHAHAHA AINT NO WAYYY I'd be silent for days." While a sympathetic soul added: "That's okay, better luck next time."
