The Daily Star: News with a Wink

WWE's Ridge Holland on 'Hall of Fame worthy' Sheamus ahead of Clash at the Castle

EXCLUSIVE: Few may have done more to shape the direction of Ridge Holland's WWE career than Sheamus - the ex-Rugby man says his stablemate is a shoe-in for the Hall of Fame

WWE: Roman Reigns discusses his wrestling career

Ridge Holland says his Brawling Brutes brother Sheamus has already had a Hall of Fame career as the veteran helps guide the former rugby stars career.

Legendary star Sheamus, 44, has been a staple part of WWE action since first signing with the company some 16 years ago.

Since then, the Irishman has held 12 major champions, including a number of reigns as WWE Champion.

Once a Breakthrough Star of the Year, Sheamus also counts the King of the Ring, Money in the Bank and Royal Rumble on his vast list of accolades.

Thats quite the haul for a performer still very much in the prime of his career as the de facto leader of the Brawling Brutes on Friday Night SmackDown.

The British trio consists of Sheamus, fellow veteran Pete Dunne and Holland, who traded a career in professional rugby for the wild world of professional wrestling.

Speaking to Daily Star, the 34-year-old Yorkshireman stressed just how important Sheamus is to his progress in the industry.

He believes his team mate has already racked up enough accomplishments to earn a spot in the coveted WWE Hall of Fame though hinted theres plenty still to come.

He has already had a Hall of Fame career, said Holland, who is preparing for a return home with WWE as part of Clash at the Castle next month.

He could, if he wanted to, put his shoe in the rack and just turn up to work and collect his pay cheque but he doesnt.

He is hungry, and he wants this to work, and he wants to get better. After 13 years being in the same company, thats kind of rare, I guess.

Some people might get comfortable and complacent, but he is always looking for the next thing his passion speaks for itself. He has been great.

There is, of course, still one key accomplishment that has evaded Sheamus to-date as he continues to chase the illusive Intercontinental title which would complete his impressive set.

Holland added: The only thing he hasnt accomplished is the IC belt, so I think that is high up on his list.

But other than that, I just think his goal is to get this group of men off the ground, get it rocking and rolling and show people what were made of.

The stars of WWE hop over the pond for Clash at the Castle at Cardiffs Principality Stadium on September 3rd. Tickets remain on sale on Ticketmaster.
