Shocking surveillance footage shows the moment a quick-thing petrol station worker saved a teenager from an attempted abduction after silently begged him for help.
Brave Abdulrahman Abohatem leapt into action when the 16-year-old girl mouthed "help" over the counter at the store in Michigan, USA. The have-a-go hero then confronted her armed kidnapper, told him to leave the store and raised the alarm.
Cops were on the scene within minutes and arrested the kidnapper, who had snatched the girl at gunpoint at 7am on Monday. He told reporters he suspected something was wrong when the man demanded she pay for a pack of cigarettes.
He told Detroit news channel WYXZ: "When he ask her to pay for the cigarettes, I stop and go, Theres something wrong. And she mouthed talked to me, like with no sound, Help.
He added: I go out, I kick him out, I ask the girl [to] go behind me."
Thankfully, local police were outside having already begun tracking the missing girl after fellow classmates reported the teen missing after witnessing her abduction.
The teen is believed to have been taken while waiting for the school bus.
Abohatem said., I see the police outside. I point to him. I go, Thats the guy,
I feel good when you save somebody. Sixteen years old she is child,
The alleged kidnapper was arrested at the scene. Police described the incident random and said that the girl and the suspect did not know each other.
Hamtramck Police Chief Hussein Farhat said: This is a random incident. This suspect could have driven anywhere, saw the opportunity and took advantage of it".
"It's a criminal who had a history of rape charges, and we will make sure he gets what he deserves,"
The President of the local school board Abdulmalik Algahaim praised the actions of the police and those who helped them on Facebook, saying: "Their awareness, quick reactions, and willingness to share critical information played a vital role in helping officers track the students location and respond without delay"
Their courage and cooperation reflect the strength and unity of our youth when faced with danger."
The family of the teen have said that she is safe at home processing the incident and that they are thankful for the community stepping up, according to local reports.
