One daring participant in the London Marathon chose to run the race dressed as a pizza box. Vince Dilig, a 25 year old from Ashstead, wore the 62cm by 62m costume with the goal of completing the 26.2-mile course in three hours and 15 minutes. He donned the Domino's-themed cardboard outfit for most of the race, eliciting both cheers and puzzled looks from spectators.
He was also spotted munching on garlic and herb-dipped crusts during the race, using his helmet to store extra dip. Despite having four major races under his belt, this was his first time running in fancy dress, adding an extra layer of challenge to the course.
Vince has previously completed two marathons, with his quickest time being three hours and 29 minutes at last year's London race.
He's also finished a half Iron Man in five hours and 46 minutes, swimming, cycling, and running a total of 70.3 miles. He also completed the Hampton Court half marathon in February 2025.
When quizzed about his unusual running attire, he explained: Nothing gives me the inspiration to run like a Dominos pizza. So, I thought, why not? It'll get me round the course in fine fettle. With a little determination, and a lot of garlic and herb dip, anything is possible.
He shared: I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone. It was a challenge to get over the finish line when I first started, but now that I'm more seasoned I want to try something new.
People wont remember my time, but they will remember me if Im wearing a pizza box. Ive had so many high fives and I feel like being dressed like this does spur people on.
"Thats the beauty of the London Marathon, people wear some outrageous costumes and still make it to the finish line.
I think some people were jealous of my garlic and herb dip supply, so many people asked for some on my way round and I was happy to oblige.
Vince dedicated seven months to training for the 26.2 mile run and has been teetotal since New Year's Eve.His rigorous training schedule included a long run every weekend ranging between 25 and 35 kilometres. His strategy for the main event was to make sure to have enough electrolytes to keep him going.
He even indulged in a Domino's the night before and shared: I thought Id get myself in the mood. Pizza is a good choice because of the complex carbs anyway, so it seemed very fitting.
