Sir Keir Starmer's team is of the opinion that Donald Trump has a genuine "obsession with death," a source has claimed.
This revelation followed an unusual exchange between the Prime Minister and the 79 year old US President during a luncheon at the White House, which took place a few weeks after the passing of Starmer's younger brother.
Nick Starmer, aged 60, who had learning difficulties, sadly lost his battle with cancer on Boxing Day. At the time, Sir Keir, 62, expressed: "My brother Nick was a wonderful man. He met all the challenges life threw at him with courage and good humour. We will miss him very much."
During the February lunch, Trump reportedly asked out of nowhere: "Your brother, Keir... He died... Was it a good death?" Tim Shipman, writing for The Spectator, noted: "Starmer kept his sangfroid in the face of the sheer weirdness of the conversation and steered it back to lowering tariffs for Jaguar Land Rover.
"Trump, Starmer's team concluded, is genuinely 'obsessed with death' his own and other people's.", reports the Scottish Daily Express.
Shipman further suggests that "Trump believes God spared him from assassination to make America great again".
He also portrays Trump and Starmer as "strange bedfellows", adding: "Anthony Scaramucci, Trump's former director of communications, told the Chalke Valley history festival last Thursday that Trump complained to him that he could not access porn on White House computers."
US President Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024, while attending a rally. Despite a bullet grazing him, he remained steadfast, albeit bloodied.
The suspect, identified as 20 year old Thomas Crooks from Pittsburgh, was swiftly "neutralized" by the Secret Service.
In a show of his characteristic resilience, Trump even made light of the incident during a July 4th celebration in Des Moines, Iowa. As fireworks exploded in the distance, he paused mid-speech behind the safety of bulletproof glass and quipped, "Did I hear what I think I heard?".
Before reassuring the crowd with, "Don't worry. It's only fireworks. I hope. Famous last words! ... My famous last words, 'Trump said, Don't worry, it's only fireworks!' Yeah, you always have to think positive. I didn't like that sound either, you know?".
