A couple caught on a kiss cam at a Coldplay concert set the internet on fire as they suddenly tried to hide their faces, sparking a frenzy when the footage was shared online.

As the grey-haired man and blonde woman quickly hid after they were put on the big screen at Gillette Stadium in Boston, USA, singer Chris Martin quipped: "Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy."

Internet sleuths quickly claimed they could identify the pair as Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot, who are listed as the CEO and head of HR, respectively, at US software firm Astronomer, on their website.

Here is everything we know about the story that has got the whole world talking.

The pair looked mortified in a viral video as the camera panned to them during the concert on Wednesday night.

The man, believed to be the CEO of a billion-dollar tech firm, Astronomer, dropped to the floor, and the woman turned her back to the camera while a friend stood nearby and laughed.

What Coldplay said

As the kiss cam panned to the couple, lead singer Martin could be heard saying: "Oh look at these two."

But as the pair realised their grinning faces were being cast on a giant screen in front of thousands at Gillette Stadium, they both swiftly unlocked arms and shielded their faces.

As the crowd erupted in laughter, Martin can be heard saying: "All right, come on, you're ok. Oh what... either they're having an affair or they're just very shy. I'm not quite sure." In another clip, he can be heard saying: "Holy s***, I hope we didn't do something bad."

What the internet said

As footage of the incident went viral, even chicken restaurant chain Nando's got in on the act, commenting: "This is too spicy, even for us..." One Twitter user wrote: "That is literally the worst reaction you can have in that situation. Just act normal and you at least stand a chance to get away with it."

Another replied: "They really gotta live with that 1 in a million embarrassing moment. Him going down quicker than her doing a 180 was the best part. Dude's life flashed before his eyes."

A third said: "If theyd have just stuck it out and smiled for the camera this would never have surfaced as virally as it did." A gig-goer added: "We and the entire group of strangers around us walking out were all talking about it. The man practically dropped to the ground. he literally ducked out on the spot."

Do the pair have spouses?

Publicly available Facebook posts suggest Mr Byron is married to Megan Byron, with whom he appears to share two children. However it is not known if the pair are still together.

Ms Cabot was previously known as Kristin Thornby during her marriage to ex-husband Kenneth Thornby.

The couple filed for divorce in 2018 and the split was finalized in 2022, according to Massachusetts court records. Its unclear if she has since remarried, the New York Post reports.

Where do the couple work?

Tech tycoon Mr Byron's LinkedIn page states he has been CEO of the tech firm since July 2023, and Ms Cabot was appointed the firm's Chief People Officer last November.

Mr Byron praised her "exceptional leadership and deep expertise" in a statement at the time. He said: "She is a proven leader at multiple growth-stage companies and her passion for fostering diverse, collaborative workplaces makes her a perfect fit for Astronomer.

What have the kiss cam couple said?

Neither Mr Byron nor Ms Cabot have commented publicly since the video emerged, but a fake statement did the rounds on the internet shortly after the clip went viral in which Mr Byron was supposed to have apologised to his wife and colleagues, saying: "You deserve better from me as a partner, as a father, and as a leader."

The alleged statement also quoted a line from Coldplay hit song Fix You, adding: "As a friend once sang: 'Lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones, and I will try to fix you."

However, his firm Astronomer has since claimed that the statement is fake, telling TMZ it was "not a real statement". Astronomer has been contacted for comment.
