Furious debate over optical illusion as people can't agree on numbers inside

An optical illusion has left people divided over the hidden numbers within the puzzle. The image is a circle containing condensing black swirls inside, but what has really gotten people talking is confusion over what is inside the circle

A mind-bending optical illusion triggered heated discussion online and left viewers split over the concealed digits lurking within the puzzle.

The mesmerising image features a circle filled with swirling black patterns, but what's really got people chattering is the bewilderment surrounding what's hidden inside the circle.

More precisely, which number lies within the circle. Twitter user Benonwine posed the question online: "Do you see a number? If so, what number?"

Users flocked online to reveal which digits they spotted, along with how many different numbers they could make out.

Responses differed wildly on social media, with some fretting about their vision while others pondered how the illusion reflected existence itself.

One user responded: "45 283...and what's the catch? Should I book an appointment with my GP? I can only see 528. Does that mean anything about my eyesight?" another person tweeted.

A Twitter user suggested that how many numbers you can spot depends on your contrast sensitivity.

Meanwhile, others whipped out image editing software to crack the mystery by sharpening up the picture. The optical illusion even sparked deep philosophical musings.

One man said: "The longer you look the more you see. There is life in the shadows, so don't let yourself by blinded by the light."

However, others simply had a giggle, with one tweeting: "I could see all the numbers when I was p****d last night. Today, I can only see 3 numbers."

He rounded off his tweet with a laughing emoji, adding: "My research is now complete: You can see more when you're p****d."
