The reason lonely blokes are flocking to get AI girlfriends is because theyre so rubbish at speaking to real women, dating experts have claimed.

Silicon Valley matchmaker Nichi Hodgson says its also because modern men are too lazy to bother with the real thing, as you can just create your own perfect woman online instead. It follows a study which found that half of fellas aged 18-30 are pursuing chatbots as lovers because theyre too scared of rejection from women. Just over a quarter say theyve even dated a sexy robot.

Nichi said: Its because a lot of men just dont know how to talk to women anymore. You can create your own perfect woman online, so most lazy blokes just cant be bothered with the real thing.

The technology is new but the behaviour from men isnt. I find it depressing that these fake girlfriends are so two-dimensional. Nichi who published a book called The History of Curious Dating claimed that plenty of men just want glorified dolls.

Im disappointed in mens lack of imagination, she added. Men dont want a challenge anymore its just like they are picking from a menu.

So its not great for gender relations. When these men actually go up and chat to a real person, theyll have nothing to say.

Caroline Adams, who coaches men and women with PURE Dating App, agreed its all too easy for blokes these days.

We are living in an era of mass convenience, she told the Daily Star. Its unsurprising people now feel like theyre entitled to companionship, as they would an UberEats.

Real relationships require patience, compromise, emotional regulation and the risk of rejection. But we are living in a society where everything is on demand, instantly accessible and customisable.

Both dating coaches thought that lads need to stop scrolling and get out into the world of dating.

Im not going to shame anyone for trying strategies that help with loneliness. But I would urge caution, said Caroline. I would gently encourage men to start to broaden their ideas about connection.
