Lucky tourists find deserted water park complete with empty rides and wave pool

A group of tourists discovered they had an entire water park - complete with rides, a wave pool and a lazy river - entirely to themselves.

Jessie Riley, 23, had been travelling around Asia for the past year when she visited the Wonderland Water Park in Mui Ne, Vietnam, on Wednesday last week (April 14), along with five friends. The group decided to check out the attraction after noticing it was located right next to their Airbnb and had been recommended as a popular tourist hotspot.

But within minutes of arriving, Jessie realised something very different was going on - they appeared to be almost the only visitors in the vast park, which was still fully staffed and operating as normal.

Over the next five hours, the group made the most of their unexpected VIP experience, hopping on rides with zero queues and wandering through the park encountering fewer than 10 other tourists in total. All of it cost them just 7 each.

Jessie, from Christchurch, New Zealand, said: "It was so bizarre. For the first 10 minutes we were sincerely concerned we were in the wrong place.

"But after checking with the staff, we realised we'd just got super lucky. The next five hours were so much fun."

Jessie and her friends first came across the water park while searching for accommodation near the Vietnamese coastal town of Mui Ne. While browsing Google Maps for nearby attractions, she spotted Wonderland Water Park, which appeared alongside a string of positive reviews, prompting the group to add it to their plans.

Jessie said: "We initially found out about the park on Google Maps, but there were also loads of adverts for it around the town. We had heard it was popular for tourists and a fun time, so we thought why not spend a Tuesday afternoon there."

During the taxi ride to the park, the group drove past its enormous car park - only to notice it was completely empty, with not a single vehicle in sight. And the confusion only grew when the tourists passed through the entrance gates, finding a sprawling water park filled with staff and slides, but almost no visitors.

Jessie said: "It definitely felt strange at first, like we weren't meant to be there. Everything was running and turned on, and each pool had a lifeguard stationed, even though there was no one else there.

"Once we checked that we were ok to be there, we were able to relax and take the opportunity as the gift it was."

Jessie and her friends spent the afternoon with free rein of the entire water park, which was fully staffed but almost entirely empty. She said: "It was such a fun time.

"We went on all the rides, most multiple times because there were no queues.

"We went on the lazy river and in the wave pool, all of which were on and monitored. I'd say we came across a total 10 other guests while we were there, some of which we teamed up with because some of the rides required a minimum amount of people.

"We even went to the restaurant on site for some food and had the entire place plus five to 10 staff members." In the taxi back to their Airbnb, Jessie asked why the park was so quiet, and the driver said it was likely because it was a weekday.
