Military wives in Russia face punishment over a pole-dancing video they recorded and sent to their husbands fighting in Putins war.
The Kursk women wore Soviet military caps, khaki T-shirts, tight black shorts to patriotic song Katyusha. Their performance in a dance studio caused online outrage despite the hapless content of their show intended to cheer up their men".
Now Kremlin moral guardian Yekaterina Mizulina, 40, head of Russia s Safe Internet League, has demanded law enforcement action against military wives.
Her referrals to prosecutors often lead to action. "Women dance on poles in camouflage uniforms to the song Katyusha, complained Mizulina.
Residents of the region are outraged, consider this blasphemy, a desecration of the memory of our heroes and demand an apology. I agree with their position.
"When there is no brain, this is how it turns out." The video went viral in recent days as Russians marked the commemoration of 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe - when the Kursk region was ravaged by invading Nazis.
The region is a key battleground in the war unleashed by Vladimir Putin.
"The situation in the Kursk region is still difficult - after all, many people were left without homes due to the invasion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, she said.
I think that law enforcement agencies are simply obliged to give a legal assessment of such content.
In theory the women could face fines, forced labour or even jail. They could be ordered to issue public apologies.
One comment stated: What was that? Why disgrace the military uniform and people's memory [of WW2]. This is some kind of mockery.
Another said they were like [sex workers] dangling on a pole with legs spread... Disgusting." It was a desecration of the memory of fighters lost in the war.
Another complained: What does Victory Day mean to them??? To wiggle your a** and cap?
The studio where the recording was made said the reaction was sad.
The girls' husbands were in the [war], and they decided to film a dance for them, said a spokesperson.
Without heels, in shorts. Everything [intimate parts] was covered.
It is very sad that the video [intended] for fighting husbands became the object of hate.
