- An elderly woman in Indonesia has survived a nightmare ordeal after being brutally attacked by a bear while working on a coffee farm. The 68-year-old was dragged ten metres across the ground as the beast clawed at her head and ripped her face apart.
- In a terrifying detail, doctors confirmed the victim remained fully conscious throughout the entire blood-soaked assault. She felt every second of the agony as the animal crushed her jaw and tore away the left side of her face.
- The grandmother then faced a gruelling eight-hour journey to a specialist hospital to save her life. During the bumpy trip, medics fought to stop her bleeding out by using IV fluids and a cocktail of strong painkillers.
- Once she reached the operating table, surgeons discovered the true, horrific scale of the damage caused by the bear's claws. Her cheekbone was completely shattered, and her front teeth had been ripped out by the roots during the struggle.
- The damage to her head was so severe that doctors were forced to remove her left eye entirely. This life-changing injury has left the brave survivor permanently blind on one side of her face.
- Specialist plastic surgeons spent hours in a high-stakes operation to clean her contaminated wounds and Begin rebuilding her features. They had to painstakingly piece her face back together while fighting off the risk of deadly infections.
- Despite the "hellish" nature of the attack, the woman has stunned the medical community with her "miraculous" recovery. Just two weeks after the horror mauling, her stitches were removed, and her body began the incredible process of healing.
- Only four months after having her face shredded, the resilient woman is remarkably able to speak and eat normally again. Her story has now been featured in a medical journal as a testament to her incredible will to live.
