The Daily Star: News with a Wink

Fairgame near St Paul's is an adults' playground that'll transport you back to your youth

EXCLUSIVE: The Daily Star took a trip to Fairgame's new location in the city near St Paul's Cathedral it was like stepping into an adults' playground which transported us back to our youths

I knew this press night at Fairgame City in St. Pauls was going to be a showdown boy versus girl, ego on the line but what I didnt expect was how much of a sweaty, giggly, roaring success that friendly rivalry would turn into.

Stepping into Fairgame City directly opposite the iconic St. Pauls dome felt like sneaking into an adult playground that didnt quit. The place packs in 12 brand-new, never-before-seen games wired to live leaderboards that ping your pride with every win or wipe-out. Heres the full dream team of competitive chaos:

Joy Ride (speed and reflexes on a gearbox light challenge); Duck & Dive Arms (bottle-knockdown pub-brawl style); Beaky Finders (worlds largest indoor hook-a-duck); Money Bags (so much cash, so little time) Dog Fight (air-to-air combat, doggy style); Don't Look Down! (Croc vs Tiger showdown if the crocs dont get you, the tigers will!); Exe-cute (you wouldn't, would you?) OAPRIX Mobility Scooter Race for OAPs (a cheeky who said getting old was no fun) Master Blaster (In space, no one can hear your beam); Droppin' Dimes (Hoops baby! Hoop-shooting action); Feeding Frenzy (You'll definitely need a bigger boat) and Havoc in the Hive (Its all going off down at the hive).

We and another group from the Daily Star battled through the 12 games in about 90 minutes, each playing two rounds per game (24 rounds! Talk about stopwatch stress and laughs).

I couldn't resist leaning into Joy Rides reflex madness and the manic hilarity of the OAP scooter rollick, which I sadly lost out on a teddy over a pal.

You can't see how sweaty I was here(Image: Abigail Hunt/ Daily Star)

Now add in the London heat nearly 30C that night and let me tell you, I was sweating buckets. My fake lashes were falling off, hair was wilting and the scoreboard became a comedy of steam and antics. But did that slow me down? Not for one second.

The real magic? The breaks. Street-food stalls from Burger & Beyond, Albys Pizza, and Le Bab served up top-tier plates that deserved long, appreciative pauses mid-game.

Who knew stopping to inhale a butter-chicken Le Bab would recharge my friends' competitive battery so well?

And the drinks! The bars were serving cocktails sharp enough to cut through the sweat: sexy spritzes, frozen margs, small-batch spirits and even mocktails that kept us feeling fancy.

Then came the crowning moment: the OAP mobility-scooter race. My friend snagged one of the famous teddy bears. Cue his smug, triumphant grin.

Boy-versus-girl? Boys totally came out on top this round.

Fairground nostalgia vibes(Image: Abigail Hunt/ Daily Star)

By the end sweaty, stuffed with street food joy, cocktail-laden and teddy-bear armed the rivalry melted into laughter and were doing this again vibes.

Fairgame City doesnt just revive fairground nostalgia it amps it up with food, drinks, neon chaos and bragging-rights.
