Keeping a good relationship with your neighbours is very important. Whether it's selflessly agreeing to look after their dog or collecting mail on their behalf, it's nice to be nice.

But sometimes you pull the short straw and wind up living nearby neighbours who either keep blocking your driveway, or in this case, have no consideration for others around them. In a recent situation online, a couple revealed how they're in quite a dilemma with the people who live upstairs and won't stop making a racket in the bedroom. It's becoming quite an issue that the couple who have to hear it are now plotting two methods to make them stop.

Posting on Reddit, the person began: "My partner and I live in an apartment block. No one below us and a couple above us. Obviously it's summer and obviously we all have our windows open.

"The couple upstairs are, um, intimate maybe 5-10 times a week. How do I know this? Well, the lady shouts and screams in what can only be described as a manner only seen and heard on VPN accessible sites.

"Times range from afternoons, evenings, before bed and most weekday mornings at around 07:00."

Concluding the post, the person said they're both "sick and tired" of hearing it. The unfortunate neighbour continued: "So, would it be rude to leave an anonymous note advising we can hear it and to kindly shut the f*** up?

"Or can we complain to the letting agent?"

Many people in the comments section shared their thoughts on it.

One said: "They know what they're doing. Doubt leaving a note will make a difference they probably get a kick out of it."

Another added: "Not rude at all. Go for it, especially if it's causing a nuisance." A third joked: "Get one of those squeaky rubber chickens."

It's quite an awkward situation to be in, but there are ways to go about it. You could first try a polite informal conversation in person or leave them a friendly note.

But if the disruption continues, you can log the noise dates and times then contact your local council. Alternatively, speak to your landlord about the situation if you are renting.

While it's annoying and quite troublesome, you could consider moving your bed or furniture away from the shared party wall to help block out everyday noises.

Another option could be to distract yourself with music or fans (especially in summer) which might be able to fade the noise out.
