Bonnie Tyler is said to be in a "stable" condition in a Portuguese hospital after her emergency surgery last week.

Legendary singer Bonnie, 74, was rushed to hospital several days ago and eventually had to be put into a medically induced coma. Since then, she has had brushes with death and had to be resuscitated after suffering a medical emergency while in hospital.

But now, there appears to be a change in fortunes for Bonnie, who is now said to be in a more stable condition. However, a spokesperson for the star has insisted that she is still "seriously ill".

The Total Eclipse of the Heart singer currently remains in a hospital in the Portuguese city of Faro, according to an updated provided by a spokesperson on Tuesday (May 12). The statement was brief but gave a sign a hope that things are now on the up for Bonnie

"As of this morning, Bonnie remains seriously ill but stable in hospital in Faro," the statement read. "However her doctors are still positive that she will make a full recovery."

The spokesman would go on to say that Bonnie's loved ones have been left extremely distress at various "lurid and untrue rumours" about the Welsh singer's condition. He once again appealed for the family to have "privacy and decency" at such a difficult time.

Bonnie's latest health scare was first revealed in a post on Instagram last Wednesday (May 6). Since then, close friends of the former Eurovision star have given updates on how she had to be put into a coma following emergency intestinal surgery.

Last Friday (May 8), a post was uploaded to the singer's Facebook page, which thanked people for the "incredible outpouring of love and well wishes we've received for Bonnie over the last few days". The post added: "It truly means the world."

Several other legendary performers have wished her well on her journey to recovery, including fellow Eurovision star Katrina Leskanich from Katrina and the Waves. Taking to the comments section, Katrina wrote: "Dearest Bonnie. Make a speedy recovery and come back rocking! We love you."

Bonnie Tyler, whose real name is Gaynor Hopkins, has become one of the most decorated Welsh singers, landing nominations for the Grammys on several occasions. Her services to music were eventually recognised by the Royal Family, when she received an MBE in 2023.
