Geordie Shore star Holly Hagan's two-year-old son rushed to hospital as she warns parents

Geordie Shore star Holly Hagan has issued an urgent warning to parents after her two-year-old son Alpha-Jax was treated for periorbital cellulitis, a serious eye infection

Geordie Shore's Holly Hagan has issued a warning to parents after her two year old son, Alpha-Jax, was hospitalised. Sharing an image of the toddler with a severely swollen eye, she revealed that he had been quite ill.

Holly, who is pregnant with her second child, captioned the photo of her son: "If your child's eye or even your eye does this you need to seek medical attention urgently." Initially believing her son was just suffering from conjunctivitis, she added: "He has no other symptoms, completely normal within himself.

"We initially thought conjunctivitis and were advised to go to the chemist. He hadn't had any eye gunk at all since he woke up so they just sent us back to the doctor, I initially thought he's irritated it and got a bit of an infection in it, but the doctor said it was peri orbital cellulitis."

Periorbital cellulitis is an infection of the eyelid and surrounding area, often resulting from scratches, insect bites, and infections. It can also occur following minor eye injuries, reports the Mirror.

The NHS states that this bacterial infection can usually be treated with antibiotics, but it requires immediate medical attention to avoid complications.

Holly, who is married to footballer Jacob Blyth, shared that Alpha-Jax is now thankfully recovering, despite initially struggling to swallow his medication due to its taste. She concluded: "A lot of parents said they waited and ended up in hospital as it spread to orbital cellulitis."

Holly shared: "His eye is much better today and doesn't seem to be worsening but I just wanted to share as I didn't think it was anything serious, and it can be if not treated".

The past few months have been challenging for Holly, who suffered the tragic loss of her sister Darci last year. She has spoken openly about her grief as she navigates this difficult time.

However, there is a bright spot on the horizon as she prepares to welcome her baby daughter. Holly and her partner Jacob discovered they were expecting a girl at Christmas.

In an Instagram post, Jacob was seen holding a confetti cannon, with Holly and their son Alpha-Jax standing excitedly beside the Christmas tree.

Before the big reveal, both Jacob and Holly had expressed their hopes for a baby girl, with Holly admitting she had been getting "girl vibes". They then asked Alpha-Jax what he would prefer, and he sweetly replied that he would like a sister, just before they received the happy news.
