Hollywood actress Hayden Panettiere reportedly died after going into cardiac arrest following a suspected overdose. The 911 call made at her death depicted workers discussing her passing.
In audio an emergency call made at 1.51pm Sunday, a female dispatcher described Panettiere, who was 36 at the time of her death, as suffering a "cardiac arrest." Just after this, a male worker could be heard suggesting the star had suffered an alleged overdose, as reported by the Mail.
Police reportedly responded yesterday afternoon to a 911 call from an "acquaintance" of the star, describing her as "unresponsive". Emergency responders attempted chest compressions to revive her, but they were not successful.
Panettiere was due to turn 37 this Friday. She was pronounced dead at the scene just over 40 minutes after the first 911 call was made at 2.32pm.
Police and the medical examiner are investigating the death. So far, it is understood that the "preliminary investigation has not indicated any signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances".
The star and her estate agent boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, were said to have flown from Los Angeles to South Carolina, where he is from, one day before she died. The pair have been on-and-off-again for a period of time.
Her death was confirmed by a rep, who shared the statement: "It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden.
"She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her and to the millions who watched her onscreen."
Over the past few months Panettiere had been active on social media, sharing photos and videos from her book tour promoting her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, which was published May 19.
The Daily Star has approached Panettiere's representatives for comment.
