Actress Hayden Panettiere's death has 'no signs of foul play', police have revealed. The star, famed for her roles in hit shows like Heroes and Nashville, has sadly died at the age of 36.
Authorities are currently investigating her tragic death, but have now confirmed that they are not treating itas suspicious at this time.
Detectives reportedly responded on Sunday afternoon (August 16) to a 911 call from an 'acquaintance' of Panettiere describing her as "unresponsive". Officers and paramedics visited the apartment block in South Carolina and tried to save her life, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police and the local coroner's office said the "preliminary investigation has not indicated any signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances". It's understood Panettiere and her on-off boyfriend Brian Hickerson flew from Los Angeles to South Carolina, where is from, the day before she died.
Panettiere's family announced her death. Her father Skip Panettiere said: "It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden.
"She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her and to the millions who watched her onscreen." The family have asked for privacy as "our family takes time to process this unimaginable loss".
The actress is survived by her daughter Kaya, who she shares with heavyweight boxing legend Wladimir Klitschko. They welcomed Kaya in 2014 and split in 2018.
The star opened up about the heartbreak she suffered at losing custody of Kaya to Klitschko. She was battling postpartum depression and addiction at the time.
In her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, she wrote: "Not being under the same roof with her every day has been the most gut-wrenching experience of my life, and its hard to describe the layers of emotion, including sadness, resentment, and anger, Ive felt because of it."
She added: "Trust me, no one should ever have to raise a child on FaceTime, and although I miss Kaya so much my heart aches, I know how blessed I am to be her mom." Hayden and Klitschko had remained on good terms.
Panettiere was just 11 months old when she appeared in an advert, and she worked as a child actor on soaps such as the ABC soap opera One Life to Live. But her big break came with Heroes, where she played cheerleader Claire Bennet.
