Charli XCX is releasing a new vinyl variant ahead of the Grammys, the reveal of which has thrown the internet into a frenzy.
The new remix vinyl variant, called Brat and its completely different has been teased by vinyl record distributor Blood Records.
Blood Records posted a demonstration of the record on Instagram, describing the vinyl as "a remix project pressed exclusively to white powder filled LP." Underneath the clip, Charli commented: "salt !"
However, the latest marketing tactic for the album has raised some eyebrows, with some fans saying the singer might have gone too far with glamourising drug-use.
One of the fans who took to X(Twitter) said "I really hate to be that 'too woke' friend but the glamourising of drugs that this 'era' has brought is in fact really boring."
She continues "As someone who's watched people's lives be destroyed by drugs both in my personal life and in work, it seems so damaging in my opinion"
Even with the heavy themes of partying and drugs being prevalent in the makings of Charli XCX's Brat album cycle, some see this new vinyl as a step too far.
Some international fans are also worried that there might be issues with customs hindering their vinyl from being delivered to them due to its suspicious nature.
However, while some fans are in outrage with this decision for the vinyl, others have come to see it as a "tongue-and-cheek" joke, given the obvious party themes surrounding the record. With one of the fans in a TikTok video saying that the vinyl is "outrageous but on brand" with the album release.
This limited edition vinyl of Brat is available on pre-order until today (January 31), and comes as a see-through record that's been filled with white powder - presumably emulating you-know-what.
XCX is up for eight Grammy nominations and five Brit Awards, all thanks to her hit album, Brat, which caused a cultural shift in the summer of 2024.
The album (and subsequent remix albums) are filled with tracks dedicated to the party lifestyle, including 365 and Club Classics, and a previous tour promo poster was illustrated with a rather suspicious-looking bag.
