Chris Packham has responded to Jeremy Clarkson, reigniting the bitter dispute between the two in a brutal post on social media. Taking to his Instagram on Friday (July 17), the naturalist shared a series of statistics about the UK farming industry.

"Tell me Jeremy Clarkson," he said, addressing him directly, "is it really all happy smiley down on the farm?" Shortly after the post went live, fans rushed to the comments section.

Amongst them, some suggested that the Springwatch host shouldn't have responded and labelled his reaction as "unhelpful". It comes as the feud between the two veteran broadcasters continues to rumble on.

One fan penned, according to the Express : "Chris, while I completely agree that farming needs to change, I think given the platform you have, you could do better when making posts like this." The account went on to claim the post is stoking tensions.

"To me, this comes across as divisive and an 'us vs them' post," the account added. "Which to my mind is really unhelpful when I know you know farming is actually crucial to our survival and very much part of the picture when it comes to improving the environment for all species."

A second person who agreed added: "To be honest, I think it's a shame you are both clashing heads when it's the government, water companies and councils, etc., that need the attention. Currently, the attention is on both of you disagreeing with each other, which helps no one!"

Jeremy slammed Springwatch presenter Chris for spouting what he branded "b******s"(Image: NurPhoto, NurPhoto via Getty Images)

Chris' post came just days after Jeremy who runs Diddly Squat Farm in the Cotswolds was not impressed with the environmentalist's comments. In a brutal post, he branded his criticism of Clarkson's Farm "b******s".

Chris, who features on Celebrity Gogglebox, had initially raged over an episode of the Prime Video programme. "Already, right, that's not what a farm looks like," the BBC presenter had declared.

"Most farms are horrible monocultures, which have been sprayed with deadly chemicals time and time again. The ground is pumped full of fertiliser, and loads of the animals are indoors in crates, being crushed and kept in the dark.

"That's an idealistic view of a farm, and it puts the wrong idea in people's minds. And that's only the titles!". Fighting back, Jeremy responded to Chris' remarks in his column for The Sun.

"It's b******s. And Chris knows it's b******s because, back in 2012, he came to Diddly Squat and spent the day in our woods, foraging and bird watching. If there had been some animals in a crate, being crushed, I'm sure he would have noticed and said something."
