Chris Packham picks up other people's dog poo when out and about

The highly-regarded Springwatch presenter is on a mission to keep the nation's pavements tidy, describing those who fail to clear up after their dogs as 'anti-social'

Chris Packham cleans up "anti-social" piles of dog poo when hes out and about.


The TV presenter, 61, is on a mission to keep the nations pavements tidy, saying: Occasionally, if Im out and I see piles of other peoples dogs poo, Ill pick that up.


The star of the BBC's Springwatch added: Why not? Its just so anti-social you cant have poo all over the pavement.

Chris has bad memories of seeing dog mess when he was growing up, adding: At school, in the 1960s, you could be playing football on a sports pitch and you could fall over and everyone would laugh at you.

You had to go home because you were covered in dog poo.

The nature-loving star has pooches of his own and loves spending time with them.

He said: The sheer joy of being out in nature is enhanced by the relationship I have with my dogs.


They make me happy. They add a completely different dimension from being out on my own, he told Radio Times.

Chris has made a new show about dogs for the BBC, and hopes Dogs in the Wild: Meet the Family will encourage Brits to love their wild relatives.

He added: I absolutely love foxes. Ive kept them and rehabilitated them and fed them pretty much all my life.

Other people despise red foxes. They can be very divisive.


Packham, a naturalist, has hosted Springwatch since 2009, as well as hosting Autumnwatch and Winterwatch.

For his work in conservation, the 61-year-old has received an abundance of awards, most recently, being appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2019 New Year Honours for his services to nature conservation.
