Danny Dyer goes fully nude on Disney show to help female co-stars

Getting his kit off in the second series of Rivals was all in the name of helping his female co-stars claims Danny Dyer who gives fans full frontal nudity

Eastenders legend Danny Dyer went fully nude for the new series of TV hit Rivals, just to make his female co-stars feel more comfortable.

The hard-man, who plays self-made electronics millionaire Freddie Jones in the Disney + show, goes the Full Monty to make sure that is wasn't just women being asked to show off their bodies on screen.

Dyer told the Radio Times: I go full frontal in this series, if they keep it in the edit. Its a night shoot, and it was cold, and Id better not say any more. Nobodys under pressure to be naked if they dont want to, but if a womans getting her breasts out, why shouldnt I get it all out? Ive got breasts as well, to be fair.

One person who won't be watching Dyer get his kit off is his famous daughter Danni.

The actor quipped: "My daughters asked for the time codes so she can skip that scene!"

The first adaption of Jilly Cooper's raunchy book was a huge hit for Disney, and it came as a big surprise to the cast and crew too.

"We were all quite shocked," spilled Dyer. "Theres something about Rivals that the world needs at the moment.

"Its unapologetic. Its not filtered. You dont need trigger warnings. Its just the 80s in all its glory. Freddies not like the other boys with their six-packs. Hes chubby, lovable and kind, and I adore playing him."

Co-star Alex Hassell, who plays Tory MP Rupert Campbell-Black in the show, is also fond of the nudity which has become a major of the appeal.

He spilled: "The weirdness of watching yourself simulate sex, especially at a screening with 200 people, has not diminished! But its important to remember that sex can and should be fun, and a lot of the sex in Rivals is fun."

Dominic Treadwell Collins, lead writer and an executive producer on Rivals, felt it was his responsibility to turn the show into a 'bonking bonanza', in the spirit of Cooper's books.

Its a very big part of Rivals and we celebrate it in all its forms, explained Treadwell Collins. So, were incredibly rigorous with ourselves. We have conversations with actors who are going to be in those scenes, we have amazing intimacy coordinators, and a lot of homework and prep go into even the silly sex scenes.

He added: Every sex scene must move the story on, not be gratuitous, can titillate at times but must never make the audience feel uncomfortable or grubby."

Rivals Season 2 premieres on Disney+ Friday May 15.
