'Disturbing' horror trailer leaves terrorised film fans with 'stained pants'

A brand new horror film trailer has been terrorising cinemagoers as they sit down to watch The Odyssey, leaving many film fans 'uncomfortable and disturbed' by one gruesome scene

A new horror movie is traumatising film fans before its even been released. A cinemagoers sat down to watch Christopher Nolan's latest blockbuster hit The Odyssey, they were treated to the trailer for Other Mommy starring Jessica Chastain which featured a horrifying scene that showed her limbs contorted as she crawled out from underneath a table - click the video at the top of this page to watch.


The trailer was uploaded on YouTube and horror fans gathered in the comments to share their thoughts. One mesmerised viewer wrote: "That is the first time in my life where a jumpscare in a TRAILER has got me."


Someone else joined in: "That scene when shes under table made my entire theatre jump," while another film fan typed: "Jesus Christ that table scare is an actual all-timer, like that Smile neck one."


Jessica Chastain stars as the Other Mommy

A fourth comment read: "Bruh, the way she turned into a spider under the table and continued to smile just made me uncomfortable," a fifth person joined in: "This is how you do a horror movie trailer," while a sixth added: "The way she crawled under the table was actually disturbing."

One person shared their doubts, writing: "I feel like they should have saved that jump scare for the movie, but I think that that jump scare just sold about $30 million worth of opening weekend tickets."


The film has terrified cinemagoers before its actual release

Other people said they "literally jumped" when she appeared under the table, that the film is a "Coraline remake" and even joked that they were "Jessica Chastain-ing themselves" while watching the clip.

Other Mommy is expected to hit cinemas on 9 October and stars Jessica Chastain, Jay Duplass, Arabella Olivia Clark, Dichen Lachman, Arian Moayed and Karen Allen.


The jumpscare had viewers begging for more

The trailer's description reads: "From James Wan, one of the most influential architects of modern horror behind the Saw, Insidious and The Conjuring franchisesand Rob Savage, the director of bold genre films Host and The Boogeyman, comes a terrifying trip into the darkening world of a young girl, Bela, who forms a relationship with a sinister entity in her home who looks uncannily like her own mother."
