Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has stunned fans after debuting a dramatically slimmer frame with some baffled viewers saying he now looks like MasterChef star Gregg Wallace.
The Hollywood icon, 53, showed off his new leaner look at the Venice Film Festival while promoting his upcoming biopic, The Smashing Machine. Gone were his trademark bulging biceps and towering wrestlers build, replaced by a more streamlined physique.
Fans couldnt quite believe their eyes, and X erupted with comments comparing the former WWE champ to the disgraced TV host, 60.
One user joked: The Rock rocking in like Gregg Wallace look-a-like." Another added: The Rock has lost so much muscle mass and weight hes turned into Greg Wallace."
Others were equally baffled. The Rock's turned into Gregg Wallace, one fan laughed. A fourth chimed in: "Is The Rock playing Gregg Wallace?"
The eyebrow-raising transformation is all part of Johnsons preparation for his new role as MMA legend Mark Kerr in The Smashing Machine. The star has shed a reported 60 pounds to authentically portray Kerrs troubled life inside and outside the cage.
While the weight loss shocked many, some fans praised the actor for committing so fully to the role. One said: He looks completely different, but thats acting, fair play to him, wrote one supporter.
The Rock has opened up about the shift, admitting hes entering a new phase in his career where he wants to be seen as more than just an action hero. True health is broader than muscles, he recently reflected, after also revealing long-term gut problems forced him to rethink his approach to fitness.
Meanwhile, Gregg Wallace is dealing with his own dramatic real-life narrative as the former MasterChef host was recently axed by the BBC following a damning independent investigation that upheld 45 serious allegations against him, ranging from inappropriate sexual comments to threats and unwelcome physical contact.
